New Beginnings
Its the first day of 2007 and first I’d like to wish everyone the very best. 2006 wasn’t the greatest year for me personally, but I still have much to be thankful for. I have a wonderful, loving husband, great friends and a job that pays the bills. Yet, there are some major changes on the horizon for me. I hesitate to call these “resolutions” because if my past history with new year’s resolutions is any indicator, they will be forgotten in about two weeks time. And some of these are very important to me, so I’m putting these out here so I’ll be less likely to let them fall by the wayside. Feel free to drop me a note to nudge me if I don’t post progress on a somewhat regular basis. Placing them behind a cut to spare everyone’s eyesight.
These are in no particular order except the first two.
- Find a new job and move from Hawaii – I’m putting these two together as they are not separable. After seven years, it is time for my husband and I to bid Maui farewell. We probably should have done this a year or two ago, but it is easy to get complacent when the job pays decently etc. We’ll probably freeze as anything less than about 80 degrees starts to feel cold now, LOL, but we’ll adapt.
- Get back into a regular exercise schedule. And to make this more definite, I’d like to lose between twenty and twenty-five pounds in 2007. I used to workout six days a week and be in pretty good shape. Then I got married and got lazy (I’m not blaming the spouse) and I added more pounds than I care to even think about. Anyone else that’s planning on dropping a few pounds this year, we can be a support group.
- Do something with craterdweller.com. No, I’m not talking about giving it up. Quite the contrary. I want to make a commitment to post more frequently to it. In addition to posting galleries of screencaps, music vids and icons/artwork, I want to turn it more into a regular blog where I have posts that have more content than “new music video is done” or “new galleries posted”. No idea what that content will be, but there, I’ve written it down, so now it will be harder for me to ignore.
- Spend a little time each week/month away from the computer. I know it sorta conflicts with the “do more with the web site”, but I want to spend more time reading, listening to music, watching DVDs and other things not involving a computer keyboard. I should streamline what I read/post/keep up with as far as LJ communities, other blogs etc. I think I’ve just reached information overload.
- Read the NaNoWriMo manuscript from November and decide if it is a trash and burn or if I want to try and make edits.
- Go outside more. Take pictures, walk, smell the flowers (well maybe not too many flowers because of allergies). Spend more time with talking with friends (including the nifty techie ways – ie email, IM, text messages).
Well I’ve said it. Now hopefully I will accomplish at least a few of these.
